"THE BOY WHO DRAWS THE DREAM" TUONG VU MINH QUAN

Despite multiple positive intervention efforts, Tuong Vu Minh Quan has been showing signs of delayed speech and fear of noises since he was two years old. Consequently, he has struggled to integrate with his peers. However, art has worked like a "miracle" in bringing the boy closer to a normal life and continues to guide him toward his life's dream.

Tuong Vu Minh Quan and the opportunity to connect with My Corner Art Studio

When Minh Quan was just two years old, his family noticed some signs of autism in him. He was slow to speak and extremely sensitive to noise. During his preschool years, he would often cover his ears, hide in a corner, and find it hard to get along with his peers. Despite attending a specialized school for a few years, his parents and family felt helpless as he was still unable to speak. However, they were encouraged when they discovered that he could point to express his wishes and emotions and even doodled some details. This positive sign gave them hope. This story was shared by Ms. Hai Yen, Minh Quan's mother.

Over the past 10 years has been a journey full of efforts for mother Hai Yen and her child - Minh Quan to overcome barriers together when her child has autism spectrum disorder. However, the family's greatest consolation is probably Minh Quan's innocence, docility, and always being very calm and gentle, as well as his child's progress every day. Although he only has a 4-year-old mind, Minh Quan shows himself to be a boy with artistic tendencies and a very good drawing ability, creating a lot of inspiration for the members at My Corner Art Studio.

From a boy who only liked to do things as he wanted, in the beginning when studying at My Corner Art Studio, Minh Quan only painted freely or according to his interests. After only a few short months, this talented boy was able to draw complete works by himself. Minh Quan's first painting "Windmill" is on display at My Corner. Although it is an imperfect painting due to the wrong subject being drawn, or filled with unrelated details, it is still a painting. It's a very beautiful memory that we want to keep because it is a very clear proof of Minh Quan's change and development when properly accompanied by art.

Create your dreams with art

Minh Quan demonstrates his artistic talent through his daily activities. He has skilled hands and can create meticulous handicrafts such as dragonflies made from strings, which he was taught by his mother, as well as glass flower vases, fabric bags, and more. His creations are beloved by many customers. My Corner particularly admires them, and we choose his handicrafts to decorate their house or gift to their loved ones.

Minh Quan has a passion for painting, crafting, and model assembly. Despite being diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, he dreams of visiting LEGOLAND in Malaysia. However, he has already achieved something remarkable by connecting with art at My Corner Art Studio. It is a great accomplishment that no one thought possible for a boy with autism.
